James Mangold says he’s working on a black-and-white version of Logan

We’ll say one thing about this country: soon, we might not have access to affordable health care, but at least movie fans can successfully hit up directors for black-and-white versions of new releases. Though Logan won’t be wide release until tomorrow, it’s gained enough traction and wowed enough moviegoers that they’re already picturing Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine swan song with much less saturation. So, naturally, they started tweeting at director James Mangold to request a black-and-white cut, which he said he’s already working on:


It’s not hard to see where they got the idea—the first promos for Logan were in black and white (and quite somber), after all. And this kind of thing has happened in a relatively short time span before, with George Miller releasing Mad Max: Fury Road “Black And Chrome” Edition a little over a year after it debuted in theaters. Someone’s even put together a black-and-white trailer already:
