When Jack White announced the end of The White Stripes, rather than mourn the death of his band, he framed it as liberation, saying that the group now belonged to all of us. And although he’s not similarly turning over model/singer wife Karen Elson to everybody to do with as they wish, he apparently has the same Zen attitude about their upcoming divorce judging by the below invitation, which invites a select group of people to a Nashville club for a “positive swing bang humdinger” taking place tonight to commemorate their breaking up. In a joint statement, White and Elson said, “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party, an evening together in Nashville to reaffirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.” Presumably this will give White more time to spend more time pursuing side-project ladies.
