Hulu’s Veronica Mars revival already has Max Greenfield reprising his role from the original series, Patton Oswalt playing a pizza delivery guy who is obsessed with murder, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste reuniting with her Good Place buddy Kristen Bell, and now—in addition to nearly everybody else from the original series—it’s also getting J.K. Simmons.
That comes from Deadline, which says Simmons will be playing an ex-con named Clyde Prickett who was in prison with Richard “Big Dick” Casablancas (the father of Ryan Hansen’s Dick Casablancas, who went to prison for scamming investors during the old show). Now that both Clyde and Big Dick are out of prison, Clyde works as a “fixer” who has a “network of fellow ex-cons he can count on to keep his own hands clean.” That implies he’s going to be running counter to Veronica’s investigation, which is reportedly about disappearing spring-breakers and a conspiracy run by her hometown’s wealthy elites. The obvious bad guy was rarely the real bad guy on Veronica Mars, though, so we’re going to say Simmons is not the big villain in this story.
Big Dick was played by David Starzyk in the original show, so he’ll probably also be back for this.
