It’s been almost two decades Louisa May Alcott's classic novel made it to the big screen, so Sony figures it's time for another visit with the March sisters. While the studio's last adaptation starred Susan Sarandon and was relatively straightforward, this one is being penned by Olivia Milch, daughter of Deadwood creator David Milch, so maybe it’ll incorporate a lot more cussing. Empire Online points out that the women who played the girls in 1994's Little Women—Winona Ryder as Jo, Kirsten Dunst as Amy, Claire Danes as Beth, and Samantha Mathis as Meg—are all potentially old enough now to play the mother, Marmee, or maybe the girls’ Aunt March, which is sort of depressing. Should any of them choose to return, perhaps Christian Bale will also be willing to reprise his role as a charmingly coy holder of books.
