Interpol bassist Carlos Dengler, having recently wrapped a cameo role as a drug dealer in a horror film tentatively titled My Friends Told Me About You, is apparently getting serious about a film career. His official website unreservedly describes him as a "film and TV composer" and features a montage reel of several clips from movies and TV Shows (including Ice Age 2, Deadwood, The West Wing, and The Devil Wears Prada) for which he has provided an alternate soundtrack. Judging by his reel, and compared to other pop-stars-turned-composers, Dengler isn't half-bad. He's no Danny Elfman yet—or even Clint Mansell, someone he clearly draws inspiration from—but hey, he's better than Mark Knopfler. Check it out.
