Despite what directors like Michael Bay and Christopher Nolan might want you to believe, entertainment isn’t all exploding Dinobots and Hans Zimmer bwamps. Sometimes, it’s the quiet moments that pack a punch. Anybody can shout; it takes somebody with authority (or laryngitis) to whisper.

YouTube poster Jon Lefkovitz is helping spread the gospel of these low-decibel exchanges. While it’s far from complete (there’s no Mac telling Dillon to come “over here,” for example), Lefkovitz does capture a pretty sampling of hushed occasions in television and film. So please, children, scooch closer, and watch this whisper supercut.
