Fox has revealed its latest collision of worlds, and it’s slightly more plausible than the last one: On October 11, the characters of New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will meet show to show, face to face, “Prank Sinatra” to “Terry Titties.” The two-episode event will take place on the Nine-Nine’s home turf, because a group of sporadically employed 30-somethings taking a New York vacation is an easier sell than an entire precinct of detectives shipping out to Los Angeles on assignment. (Though wouldn’t you want to see the Brooklyn cops going west to assist Officer Winston Bishop in some sort of Beverly Hills Cop situation? There’s always next season…)

“The crossover episode has historically been the artistic high point of any show that has dared to attempt it,” New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether said in a statement from Fox. “Maybe you remember ‘Blackout Thursday’ on NBC, or even further back the infamous Alf/Gilligan’s Island crossover of the late 1980s.” Continuing in that facetious vein, Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor added, “Stay tuned for our two casts to do a soulful R&B number on Empire, co-anchor the Fox 10 o’clock news and connect for a touchdown on Fox NFL Sunday.”

In all sincerity, New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine return for their sixth and fourth seasons, respectively, on Tuesday, September 20. This promo for NBC’s “Hurricane Saturday,” meanwhile, is available for your viewing pleasure today and everyday.
