HBO orders more Veep and Silicon Valley

Pied Piper and the remnants of the Selina Meyer administration will still have a home on HBO come 2018. Variety reports that Silicon Valley and Veep will return next year for their seventh and fifth seasons, respectively. The move pretty much guarantees a seventh consecutive Primetime Emmy nomination for Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus (assuming her streak of winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series extends to six years this September). Thomas Middleditch’s work on Silicon Valley received its first nod from the Television Academy in 2016—but if only Emmy voters were paying attention to the bizarre character sketches Middleditch posts to Instagram (and, you know, Instagram posts were eligible for Emmys), he’d sweep the acting categories every year until some enterprising Gavin Belson type finally has their way and gets the internet shut down for good.
