Bill Simmons’ seemingly sports-related talk show, Any Given Wednesday, is no more. HBO’s canceled the fledgling series, which debuted back in June with Simmons as host and NFL Network’s Eric Weinberger as executive producer. During the show’s run, Simmons sat down with various celebrities to talk about topical things, including having a Deflategate chat with Ben Affleck that left the latter very hot under the collar. (Tom Brady and Dorothy Mantooth are saints, do you hear him?) Next Wednesday’s installment of the talk show will be its last. In a press release obtained by Variety, HBO indicated it wanted to remain in the Simmons business, though didn’t elaborate on what future projects they could work on. Simmons recently founded The Ringer, an online publication that should help keep him busy between hosting gigs.
