You might be interested to learn that, even in the future, dudes with the know-how for growing really dank strains of weed will be in demand. At least, that will be posited in one of Amazon Studios’ still-untitled upcoming sci-fi series, Deadline reports. Based on Michel Faber’s 2014 novel The Book Of Strange New Things and adapted by Bridge Of Spies scribe Matt Charman, the show will concern a space station in a future in which Earth is no longer able to sustain life thanks to humanity’s action (so, in like, five years?).
Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense) will play a former marijuana farmer who is recruited as chief botanist for the mission. (Presumably to grow food, but if he’s already got the knowledge, why not?) Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones) will headline the series as a priest who finds his faith rocked by his experiences on the orbiting colony. So yeah, Osment’s character clearly knows his craft.
