Proving that truth is stranger than fiction—but that truth sounds a lot better when it's coming out of pretty Hollywood faces—HBO Films has finally given the green light to a fictionalized adaptation of Grey Gardens, the infamous Maysles Brothers documentary that gave rubberneckers a glimpse into the bizarre lives of reclusive NY socialites "Big Edie" and "Little Edie" Beale as they putted around their decrepit, trash-filled mansion. The pre-reality-TV doc has been adapted once before as a Tony-winning Broadway musical starring Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise Wilson, but for this adaptation, HBO is going with Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange for extra verisimilitude. Look for turbans to become next year's big hipster fashion trend.
