Finally, something that isn’t an unsettling metaphor for the rise of fascism in America: a video compiled by Vogue featuring the impeccably groomed pets who competed in this year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Sure, if you reach a little, you could draw some tenuous parallels between the controversy over allowing cats to compete in the show for the first time to conservatives’ anxiety over border security in the U.S. But cats are cute, so we say: Let them in! And it could hypothetically be pleasing to neo-Nazis that a purebred German Shepherd won this year’s competition (Hitler famously owned a German Shepherd named Blondi), but we’re not going to let that ruin our fun. Her name is Rumor, she was named after an Adele song, and she’s a good dog.
Anyway, look at their goofy little faces. Just letting their tongues hang out and licking their butts without a care in the world. You’re oblivious to sociopolitical strife, aren’t you, buddy? Yes you are. Yes you are!
