Fresh off two of the most intriguing new TV shows of the last few years—“melancholy comedy” Fleabag and BBC America’s murderous new drama Killing Eve—Phoebe Waller-Bridge is making her way to HBO. Variety reports that Waller-Bridge has just sold a new pilot to the premium network, a “romantic-comedic-thriller” about a pair of former lovers attempting to live up to a long-ago pact to drop everything and disappear together if one of them ever sent a specific, one-word message: RUN.
Waller-Bridge is producing Run with Vicky Jones, who directed the play that Fleabag the TV series was originally based on. Jones is writing, while Waller-Bridge will appear in a recurring part. Admittedly, we don’t have a ton to go on, as far as figuring out what kind of show this series will actually be, but Waller-Bridge has an impressive track record at the moment; there’s no reason to expect that her third show won’t be as consistently compelling as the first two have proven themselves to be.
