The MPAA has confirmed that Fifty Shades Of Grey will be rated R, ensuring that Showgirls will continue to be the top-grossing NC-17 movie of all time. It also ensures that the suburban moms who compose the film’s core audience will have to buy the unrated Blu-ray to see the good stuff, good stuff they can enjoy while sipping on a nice glass of Fifty Shades of Grey Red Satin wine and munching on a Fifty Shades of Grey cookie.

Specifically, the film has been rated R for “the strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity,” the “unusual behavior” part presumably referring to protagonist Anastasia Steele’s proclivity towards biting her lower lip and saying “holy crap” a lot. This isn’t the first time the MPAA has gotten creative in its ratings classifications— ScreenCrush has assembled a list of memorable examples, including The Brady Bunch Movie’s PG-13 “for racy innuendos,” referring, of course, to the scene where Alice gives Mr. Brady a Tijuana high five.
