Vic “Cyborg” Stone has experienced some significant changes in his first ongoing series, receiving a major upgrade in tech that makes him better equipped to fight the horde of aliens descending on Detroit. After a number of prescient dreams warning him of the arrival of the Technosapiens, the threat has finally arrived in Motor City, and Cyborg is its only line of defense. Writer David F. Walker has teased the battle in this week’s Cyborg #3 since the start of the series, and this preview shows Cyborg stepping into the action hero role to stop the technologically advanced creatures that threaten the city. These pages spotlight the dynamic staging that has made Ivan Reis one of DC’s top artists, and he brings a lot of energy to Vic’s showdown with the Technosapiens. Adriano Lucas’ coloring highlights the grit of the urban environment with muted grays and browns, grounding the setting before the bright blue bursts of Vic’s weaponry bring a wave of superhero fantasy. It’s time for Cyborg to let loose with all his new upgrades, and it should make for a thrilling issue.
