As foretold by the fact that her character’s name is in the title of an upcoming movie, Evangeline Lilly is going to have a greater role in the Marvel universe. Lilly explained in an interview with Blastr at New York Comic Con that after Ant-Man sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp, she’ll show up in one of those upcoming Avengers movies. “There’s an Avengers series coming out and it’s a two-parter,” she said. “The Wasp won’t be in the first part; she’ll be in the second part, because they really want to preserve that reveal for Ant-Man And The Wasp so they can give it its due time.”
This is good news for the gender balance of the superhero squad, but somewhat complicates the mystery of what’s actually happening with the future Avengers flicks. Back in July it appeared that Marvel was scrapping the idea of Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2, in favor of one Infinity War film and another “untitled” one. Lilly’s comments make it seem like the split story was back on. But does it really even matter? Aren’t all these films one continuous tale anyway? Won’t they just keep happening until the world burns?
