Ellen DeGeneres seems to like pretty much everybody—it’s sort of a cornerstone of her whole career—so it feels even more damning than usual to hear that not even she wants President Donald Trump on her show. DeGeneres made that clear in a Today interview with Matt Lauer this week, briefly discussing her past associations with the former reality TV star, and then giving a simple “No” when asked if she’d like to have him on her show.

When Lauer asked why, DeGeneres pulled no punches (albeit in a very sweet, Ellen sort of way) “I’m not going to change his mind,” she said. “He’s against everything that I stand for.”

DeGeneres was a huge supporter of Barack Obama, who appeared on Ellen several times during his time in office. On the former president’s last day in office, DeGeneres ran a five-minute tribute to the Obamas, celebrating their numerous appearances on the show.
