With Jane Krakowski on board as the convict wrongfully accused of murdering her boss, and Rachel Dratch signed on as her irritating cellmate, the producers of Fox’s Dead Boss have moved on to casting the crucial role of the dead boss, whose snuffed-out existence gives the plot its entire purpose. According to Deadline, it’s David Cross, who will guest star in the show’s pilot as Krakowski’s “narcissistic, credit-stealing, misogynistic” supervisor, putting his talent for playing jerks to good use. It will also make use of his talents for playing people who are alive, however briefly—though, despite it being a relatively small role, his being dead is what makes the show so unique. After all, Starz already tried Alive Boss, and that was canceled.
