Crystal Castles have broken up. Singer Alice Glass posted to social media about her departure from the group late last night, saying her exit marks “the end of the band.” Glass said she’ll soldier on solo, adding that her “art and [her] self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others,” and that “for a multitude of reasons both professional and personal” she “no longer feel[s] that this is possible within” Crystal Castles.

Crystal Castles began about 10 years ago as a collaboration between Glass and producer-instrumentalist Ethan Kath. The group’s first studio record came out in 2008 and the band’s final record, which Kath produced, came out in 2012.
