Late last year, Watchers On The Wall reported that reigning UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor would join the cast of Game Of Thrones for season seven. It made a certain amount of sense, given that fellow professional athlete Hafþór Björnsson’s been holding court all this time as Cersei’s nigh-indefeatable warrior. The Watchers post quoted UFC president Dana White, but now it looks like they should have straight to McGregor for confirmation, because he’s now disputing the rumor.

In a new interview with the Good Times Network (via Entertainment Weekly), McGregor said he’d “never even heard about it.” The fighter does recall White bringing in some “visitors,” who tried to sell him on an appearance in the fantasy series. But McGregor says that, not only was in no shape at the time to talk Hollywood deals, he has no real interest in acting. “Listen, come at me with shit I want to hear. I’m not trying to be in show business, I’m trying to be in the fight business. Come at me with a real number to fight again,” McGregor told them, which was the extent of the conversation. If McGregor’s worried about filming interrupting his training schedule, he should take some comfort in knowing Björnsson still has plenty of time to chuck household appliances.
