The wildly prolific K-pop group BTS took a tiny break from their global stadium tour to stop by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Wednesday night. While there, the men performed their current hitBoy With Luv, which features Grammy-nominated singer/unabashed BTS fan Halsey. Though their songmate wasn’t there to join them this time around, BTS still managed to deliver an unforgettable performance by channeling another iconic music sensation: The Beatles. Between an introduction from a slick-haired, Ed Sullivan-esque Colbert and shots of audiences members styled in ‘60s-era attire, the black-and-white production is as involved as it is impressive.

The choice to pay homage to The Beatles is significant on a couple of levels. Firstly, they are arguably the biggest musical group on an international scale, breaking awards show records and selling out huge stadiums with relative ease. And similar to how Beatlemania stoked the British Invasion in the ‘60s, the massive popularity surrounding BTS has activated a more invested interest in K-pop among Western audiences: This year, BlackPink became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella and NCT 127 is currently winding down a majorly successful North American tour ahead of the release of their highly anticipated mini album, We Are Superhuman.
