Bill Engvall's probably the most salvageable member of the Blue Collar Comedy crew at this point—too bad he's about to get buried even deeper in that domestic-and-domesticated humor that waters down his act. He's making a pilot of a family sitcom for TBS that's been talked about as a companion for Everybody Loves Raymond, which is never a good way to talk about anything.
Engvall… will play the father at the center of the sitcom.
This is the second comedy pilot recently greenlighted by TBS, following the cast-contingent pickup of Imperfect Union — a workplace show produced by Will & Grace star Eric McCormack.
Translation: TBS will deliver more of its trademark rerun feel. In the form of original programming.
