Ages ago, in the early to mid ‘00s, there was an excellent New York City band called Kudu. The funky act burst out of an East Village bar called Nublu that also birthed acts like Brazilian Girls, but both bar and band have long since ceased to exist. Fortunately its members soldier on. One half of the group has become Betty Black, and her next album, Valley Low, is shortly imminent. Her latest single, “Come Back Lover,” is sultry and full of swagger, a perfect track for either a romantic rendezvous or a stern “fuck off.” The video for the track—streaming exclusively below—was shot in the Texas desert and finds Black channeling both Jem and Russ Meyer.
