It’s hard for a new Christmas song to catch on these days, but that doesn’t mean artists should stop trying to knock Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” off of the holiday throne—and please keep trying, because we’re really sick of that song. Best Coast is the latest band to step in and try its hand at Christmas cheer, and though the group’s California style may not scream “Christmas” to people who are used to chillier climates, it’s still a solid tune. Titled “Christmas And Everyday,” the song was written for the Amazon original kids movie An American Girl Story—Maryellen 1955: Extraordinary Christmas, which is about a little girl living in Daytona Beach during the holidays. (Also, while An American Girl Story—Maryellen 1955: Extraordinary Christmas is a very good title, it’s not quite on par with Melody, 1963: Love Has To Win, An American Girl Story.)

You can hear Best Coast’s track below.
