Given its sweep of the Golden Globes and general awards season dominance, it should come as a shock to no one that La La Land accrued the most BAFTA nominations when those were announced earlier today. The musical found itself in a whopping 11 categories, including Best Film, Director, Leading Actor, and Leading Actress.

However, the British Academy did not entirely follow suit with the dominant awards-season narrative. Its voters were particularly partial to Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals. Despite missing out on Best Film, the moody drama garnered nine nods, the same amount as Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival. Aaron Taylor Johnson—an unexpected victor Sunday night—is once again competing for the supporting actor prize, while Ford will contend for Director and Jake Gyllenhaal for Leading Actor. But what got left out while the BAFTAs were showering affection on Ford’s movie? Notably work by black filmmakers and actors. Moonlight’s Barry Jenkins wasn’t honored for directing, while Denzel Washington’s performance in Fences was ignored.

Moonlight is up for Best Film, alongside La La Land, Arrival, Manchester By The Sea, and I, Daniel Blake, the Palme D’Or winner and a hometown favorite for the BAFTAs. Elsewhere, Emily Blunt is a surprise pick for Leading Actress for the poorly-received The Girl On The Train and the British name for Zootopia is Zootropolis. Below you can see a selection of the most prominent categories, the full list is available here.
