Which is sad because the first thing that comes to mind when I think of MadTV are the women (Mo Collins, Nicole Sullivan, Debra Wilson, Alex Borstein) or guys like Key & Peele, Phil LaMarr, Orlando Jones. Not Will Sasso or Frank Caliendo.

She was my favorite by far and better than anyone on "SNL" in ages. She deserved waaay better.

I’ve been loving BBCA running a “Before They Were Famous” episodes of Law and Order... seeing a young (32) Aida Turturro in a small part with an similarly young (30) Laura Linney as the main defendant in the same episode, in the same season as an even younger (19!) Sarah Paulson is just blissful, really...

As I’ve gotten older I’ve developed an appreciation for Swing and Big Band, and I also hadn’t heard her before. I really appreciated this article. Thanks, Shannon

Thanks, Shannon, for a great story. I have a passing familiarity with the Big Band era but have to admit I’ve never heard of Viola or Frances. That short is priceless. Frances clearly wasn’t much of a singer but Va-Va-Voom!

Love this show. Watching Molly and Issa fight was so hard I waited until the end of the season to binge everything. Then it was hard to watch such beautiful shots of people out and about in LA while stuck in lockdown.

I’d love a third season, but if it does happen, I doubt it’ll be on DC Universe. With Doom Patrol on HBO Now, their daily talk show ending this week, and no new shows announced since last year, I can’t see it lasting much longer. Read more

great read, thank you for it. It reminded me of the essay Radical Softness in the (really excelent, if you can get a copy) magazine A Profound Waste of Time, about games that give space to meditation, relaxation or simple a soft escape when things get a little too much. Read more

Of the choices available, and as much as I love My Wallet and The Lid, I think the best one there is Land Creatures vs Sea Creatures. No Plankton, but everyone else is there, and they really sound like they are having a good time in the original.

I’m not going to hold a gun to your head but if you know this is a blind spot for you, why haven’t you bothered to learn about it? Of course, if it’s not relevant to your life, you don’t need to, but I’d hope you would if you ever had to, say, speak about it publicly or educate anyone else. Or, like, write a TV scene Read more

Cool, but getting “pummeled to death” over a mistake isn’t what happened here, so I don’t see a reason for the preemptive mea culpa.
