Aubrey Plaza, an actress who has made some interesting career choices lately, just made another one by joining the cast of Dirty Grandpa. Not to be confused with Bad Grandpa, the film also stars Robert De Niro, an actor whose name once meant the highest standards of quality, and now means Last Vegas, and Zac Efron, whose career is about the same as always, except for that time he was in a Lee Daniels movie. (Dermot Mulroney will be there as well.)
De Niro will play the titular Dirty Grandpa, who cajoles his grandson (Efron) into accompanying him to spring break in an attempt to break up the young man’s engagement. Plaza will reportedly co-star as “a savvy, beguiling party girl looking for fun on Spring Break,” a role which may or may not indicate that Plaza is trying to shed her cynical image. Depends on your definition of “fun,” really.
