AMC will create a forum that will finally allow AMC to talk about how awesome AMC is by picking up the live chat show Talking Dead, which will follow each episode of zombie soap opera The Walking Dead with a discussion of its most salient plot points overseen by Chris Hardwick, host of The Nerdist and similarly battle-scarred survivor of the Shipmates apocalypse. The project, first rumored last month, will bring in various actors and producers from the show, as well as just fans and “TV enthusiasts” (which is a term you should start self-identifying with more often, as it is classy) to recap what you’ve just watched, then interact live with viewers about its ramifications. For instance, whether you think that episode means that there will be zombies trying to kill people next time, or maybe not?
All in all, it’s sort of a nerdier play on Bravo’s Watch What Happens: Live, where Andy Cohen stages cockfights between Real Housewives cast members, takes a long, cool sip from his wine spritzer, and then closes his eyes to lose himself in the squawking and imagine that he, too, is a luxurious lady of leisure. But Talking Dead will be, presumably, far less bitchy and self-serving—unless the network succeeds in getting calls from the actual Internet commenters who always seem to have something to say about The Walking Dead, in which case every episode should probably just go ahead and have a dedicated segment named “Why I’m Done With This Show.”
