Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the fierce New York Congresswoman whose mere existence drives the MAGA crowd bananas, just showed that her taste is as impeccable as her social media game. In response to a Politico piece chronicling the House Democratic Caucus’ irritation with Ocasio-Cortez, the rising political star deftly plucked a Watchmen quote from her quiver, firing it straight into hearts of nerds everywhere.

To quote Alan Moore: ‘None of you understand. I’m not locked up in here with YOU. You’re locked up in here with ME,’” she tweeted, punctuating it with a laughing emoji.

Spoken by Watchmen’s Rorschach in the acclaimed graphic novel, the quote originated from the character while he was trapped in a prison cell with a slew of menacing bunkmates, one of whom he ends up burning with a deep fryer.

Ocasio-Cortez’s quote understandably ignited the Twitter masses, who’ve responded with memes, jokes, and even a few musings about pop culture’s impact on the young generations.

It’s also good timing for HBO and Damon Lindelof, who will see his new adaptation of the story debut this year on the cable network.
